                                    WORLD  LITERATURE 

World literature refers to the literature from all over the world.  The term Weltliteratur was first mentioned by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in 1827, to describe the availability of texts from other countries, including translations from sanskrit, persian, etc.  Karl Marx andι  Friedrich Engels, used the term in the Communist Manifesto in 1848 to describe the cosmopolitan character of the bourgeois literary production.  In David Ramrosch' s book "What is World Literature?", world literature is defined as a category of literary production, edition and circulation.

                                                                                                          
                                  ΠΑΓΚΟΣΜΙΑ ΛΟΓΟΤΕΧΝΙΑ 

Με τον όρο παγκόσμια λογοτεχνία αναφερόμαστε στη λογοτεχνία από όλες τις χώρες του κόσμου.  Ο όρος Weltliteratur χρησιμοποιήθηκε από τον Johann Wolfgang von Goethe το 1827 για να περιγράψει τη διαθεσιμότητα κειμένων από άλλες χώρες, συμπεριλαμβανομένων μεταφράσεων, σανσκριτικών, περσικών, κ.α.  Οι Karl Marx και  Friedrich Engels, χρησιμοποίησαν τον όρο στο Kομμουνιστικό Mανιφέστο το 1848 για να περιγράψουν τον "κοσμοπολίτικο χαρακτήρα" της αστικής παραγωγής λογοτεχνίας.Στο βιβλίο του David Damrosch "What is World Literature", ορίζεται η παγκόσμια λογοτεχνία, ως κατηγορία λογοτεχνικής παραγωγής, έκδοσης και κυκλοφορίας.
